Ce 26 juillet 2024, trois membres du groupe de gospel familial The Nelons, Kelly Nelon Clark, son mari Jason Nelon Clark et leur fille Amber Nelon Kistler, sont décédés dans un accident d’avion.

They were scheduled to perform at an event in Alaska on July 26 when their plane crashed in the United States. Three members of the family gospel group The Nelons, Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband Jason Nelon Clark and their daughter Amber Nelon Kistler, died in this terrible tragedy.

Six people died in the crash

“One of America's most beloved gospel music families, the Nelons were involved in a tragic and fatal plane crash Friday afternoon while en route to the Gaither Cruise in Alaska. Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler and their assistant, Melodi Hodges, and the pilot, Larry Haynie and his wife, Melissa, were killed in the crash, according to a statement posted by Gaither Family Management on Instagram.

Nathan Kistler, Amber Nelon's husband, their assistant Melodi Hodges, the plane's pilot and his wife, Larry and Melissa Haynie, were also killed in the crash.

Their plane had an "autopilot problem" , said a spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board to The Guardian. An investigation is underway.

Their daughter has spoken out

The last member of The Nelons, Autumn Nelon, the youngest daughter of Jason and Kelly Nelon, was not on board the plane when it crashed. She was taken “to the hotel where the artists were gathered with Bill and Gloria Gaither to pray, sing and embrace them in their grief, pledging to support them whatever the needs”, specifies the publication on Instagram.

The young woman, now an orphan, also spoke in a press release and thanked her fans and subscribers for their support and prayers.

Formed in 1970, The Nelons, became known for the songs We Shall Wear a Robe or again I Shall Not Be Moved.
