Training at the La Cazotte agricultural high school in Saint-Affrique, they will participate on February 24 in the prestigious final of the Ovinpiades competition at the agricultural show.

They are called Marie Armengaud, Hugo Vaysse and Antonin Valat and are one of six young people from Occitanie who have just qualified for the final of the Ovinpiades competition for young shepherds. The event took place recently in Pamiers, on the farm of the agricultural high school, and brought together more than seventy students, aged 16 to 24, from agricultural educational establishments in the entire Occitanie region.

Sort and assess the health of the sheep

To be the best young regional shepherds, the candidates had to complete a series of theoretical and practical tests, inspired by the daily actions of the breeder, such as sorting sheep at the rear. Using an electronic reader, assess the health of a ewe, evaluate its body condition, or even trim its hooves. At the end of their performances, the young Aveyronnais managed to do well. And, as such, they will be able to participate in the national final, Saturday February 24 at the International Agricultural Show in Paris. The Occitanie region will therefore be proudly represented by these finalists against 34 other candidates.

"Young Shepherds World Cup"

After almost 10 years of absence, France is relaunching the World Ovinpiades. Around fifteen foreign delegations are invited to participate in the 3rd "Young Shepherds World Cup".
