Top 16 European table tennis: Alexis and Félix Lebrun qualified for the quarter-finals, the two brothers will face each other for a place in the semi-finals

Les Montpelliérains Félix et Alexis Lebrun ont tout deux remporté leur premier match du Top 16 européen, samedi 20 janvier à Montreux en Suisse, et s'affronteront tous les deux en quarts de finale ce soir. 

The two Montpellier brothers will therefore meet in the quarter-finals of this European Top 16, bringing together the 16 best players in Europe. 

Seeded N.1, Félix Lebrun (8th in the world) had no trouble beating the 25th in the world Liam Pitchford, apart from a slightly more contested first set before rolling out (11-8 , 11-2, 11-6, 11-9).

Opposing world number 30 Anders Lind, Alexis Lebrun had a little more difficulty getting started, with a first set won by the Dane (14-12). Which undoubtedly stung the eldest of the siblings since he went on to an 11-0 straight away then the last three sets to win 4-1 (12-14, 11 -0, 11-6, 11-9, 11-5).

The players of the Nîmes-Montpellier Alliance in Pro A will therefore meet in the next match for a place in the last four of this Top 16. As a reminder, Félix (17 years old) has still not beaten his big brother Alexis (20 years old) in an official match. The latter had also beaten him in the final of the French men's championships in 2023.
