Traffic at the Alzon road tunnel will be disrupted due to a civil security exercise

A civil security exercise will take place at the Alzon road tunnel on Wednesday 2 October from 9 am to noon. A diversion will be set up for light vehicles while heavy goods vehicles should avoid the area.

Traffic at the Alzon road tunnel, which links Gard to Aveyron, will be disrupted on Wednesday, October 2, from 9 a.m. to noon, due to a civil security exercise. Under the direction of Anne Levasseur, sub-prefect of the Vigan district, the operation will simulate a traffic accident in the tunnel between a light vehicle and a minibus resulting in several injuries.

This will involve checking the proper functioning of the alert means, the transmission times of the latter, testing the effectiveness of the communications of the emergency services, but also training the emergency services and security forces of Gard and Aveyron to work together and thus promote interdepartmental coordination of all stakeholders.

Avoiding false rumors

The Departmental Fire and Rescue Services of Gard and Aveyron, as well as the gendarmerie groups, the departmental councils of 30 and 12, the Samu 30, the Alzon town hall, the prefectures and the French Red Cross will be mobilized.

This exercise will require the implementation of a diversion for light vehicles via the RD 158 C. Heavy goods vehicle drivers will have to avoid the area and adapt their route accordingly.

The Gard prefecture also reminds that everyone is asked not to spread false rumors and to respect the safety instructions for this accident simulation in this Alzon tunnel.
