The tracker fitted to one of the two bikes allowed the police to find it. The place was notably occupied by two illegal immigrants, who were subject to deportation proceedings.

On Saturday, July 27, back at the Pitot underground car park where he had parked his car, a Russian tourist discovered that the two bicycles that were attached to the back had disappeared. The damage was significant. Value of the two cycles: 11,000 euros.

The theft took place during the night, while the man was staying at a nearby hotel. The holidaymaker, who lives in England, also reported to the police the disappearance of a bag containing 10,000 euros in cash.

Two illegal immigrants

Using the tracker he was equipped with, investigators found one of the bikes in a squat in the Arceaux district. Three people were there: a 32-year-old Frenchman, a 23-year-old Moroccan and a 38-year-old Algerian. All three will claim that they do not know its origin.

While the theft of stolen goods could not be established, the police did however note that the two foreigners were in an irregular situation. They were ordered to leave French territory.
