Two motions of support for farmers and firefighters adopted by the Lozère departmental council

"We are witnessing the return of a rainy spring. Renovating the bridges

Still on road safety, Patrice Saint-Léger, opposition advisor, spoke about the state of the bridges and, according to him, the lack of maintenance of these infrastructures, referring to to the incident which occurred in Chamborigaud (Gard), on March 18. Sophie Pantel added: "In Lozère, we have 1 100 bridges and aqueducts. There is continuous monitoring and as soon as an accident occurs on a structure, there is a technical visit to check that it has not been weakened. Today, there are only five bridges classified 6 (necessary work) and the work will be done before the end of 2024 ."

After discussing water, the shortage of doctors, and other local topics, the departmental councilors adopted two motions of support. One for farmers, the other for volunteer firefighters (SPV). The latter are assimilated to workers in the latest Civil Security report, which puts this voluntary status at risk. In this motion of support, the Lozère departmental council therefore reaffirms its commitment and assistance to the SPV.

Briefs from the departmental council

Security. Fr&déric Lhomme, the new departmental director of the fire and rescue services (DDSIS) of Lozère, will take up his duties on June 1, 2024.

Requests to the Prime Minister

On the agricultural side, the text adopted by all the elected representatives of the community will be given to Prime Minister Gabriel Attal. He mentions the recognition of "the essential contribution of farmers to the economy, influence, development and history of the territory".
