Vendargues is embarking on the decarbonization of its energy for the entire municipality

La maire Guy Lauret et le bureau d'études DJC Experts-Consultants ont présenté aux Vendarguois, le vendredi 26 janvier, le projet de "Commune à énergie positive décarbonée". Une première dans l'Hérault.

The complicated traffic in the Metropolis this Friday, January 26 at the end of the afternoon, as the concomitant declarations of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal to try to get out of the agricultural crisis have perhaps refreshed the enthusiasm of the Vendarguois. There were only around forty people who responded to the invitation from Mayor Guy Lauret for the public presentation of the "Decarbonized positive energy community" in Vendargues.

"Deploy photovoltaic sensors"

Behind a somewhat hermetic display, there lies an ambitious project. "A first in the department and, I believe, in Occitanie", enthuses the mayor. "This involves offering operators space to deploy photovoltaic sensors", so that the overall electricity consumption < em>"municipal services, individuals, businesses or wine growers" is compensated by subcontracted production on the territory of the municipality.

Roofs, parking lots and frozen spaces

To assess the feasibility of the operation and explain it that evening, the municipal team added experience from the Melgorian design office DJC Experts-Consultants.

"In the spirit of Cop 21 in Paris, explains Denis Mercier, associated founder of DJC,this involves renting to developers the roofs of municipal buildings, shade structures over parking lots in the municipal area and installing solar farms on frozen spaces, such as retention basins. Without disturbing the landscaped aspect of Vendargues."

In total, the cabinet estimated the commune's production capacity at 170%, given its current overall consumption.

Focus on five sites

Guy Lauret details "the focus on five sites: shade houses over half of the bowling alley, the same on the red field of the sports complex, the roof of the gymnasium, the of the Andrée-Cosso school – where we must intervene regardless – and the coverage of the technical services buildings."

Among the many questions from the small assembly, "why not start with the retention basins ?" In particular Las Candillargues, the largest of the four identified by the study. "It's a skill which has been transferred to the Metropolis, indicates Guy Lauret, with complex regulations which is fortunately in the process of evolving."

“The municipality will not disburse a euro”

The entirety of the energy consumed Vendargues, all sectors combined, is currently rising to 100.9 GWh/year, including 67.7 GWh/year of electricity. The share of municipal services: 1.2 GWh/year including 0.87 GWh/year of electricity.

"Our commitment is that the municipality does not spend a single euro cent in this project, says Denis Mercier. It represents à term 25 &agrav; 30M€ investments for developers."

But what's the point for the Vendarguois ? "Self-consumption & a preferential and locked rate, negotiated and negotiated. upstream with the developers, details Sophie Belloc-Schweyer, municipal councilor delegated to the delegate; sustainable development. And the resale of the surplus. Not counting the rental of the surfaces."

Side calendar, "our mission is to support the municipality over two years, continues Denis Mercier, with a production no later than the end of 2025. As for 30-year rental leases, we need to look further. This is a permanent action. It's like a dam, çit becomes an identity"
