VIDEO. A failed rescue: a patrol of skiers tries to help her, the snowboarder falls into the void

Le sauvetage raté de cette jeune fille de 16 ans, dans une station de ski californienne, l'a directement conduite à l'hôpital ce 27 janvier 2024.

In the Californian ski resort of Mammoth Mountain, a young 16-year-old snowboarder found herself clinging to a chairlift with her feet in the air on January 27, 2024. While several people tried to support her so that she wouldn't fall, the staff stopped the ski lift.

Five members of the ski patrol then rushed under the young girl to try to help her. After placing a rescue net just below to cushion her fall, the patrol asked the snowboarder to let go. 

The young girl was sitting incorrectly according to the direction of the station

On the video available below, we can see the teenager let herself fall into the void… and land on the ground under the stunned gaze of the skiers. Rescued by a medical team, she was taken to hospital. The American press was unable to provide details on his state of health.

According to the resort management, the snowboarder sat incorrectly when she got on the chairlift. Furthermore, some witnesses and Internet users explained that the teenager had to wait a while before the chairlift was stopped.

"My father and my friend saw the girl knocked down and immediately shouted to stop, but it took almost a minute for the girl to stop. ;rsquo;operator stopped the chairlift when it was already three stories high", detailed a witness to the accident.

Others criticized the team's lack of tact, because "the patrol let this girl down completely lacking in& rsquo;catching with the net after convincing her that everything was fine.
