VIDEO. Bernard Cazeneuve Prime Minister Again ? The person concerned says he is “ready” to be appointed, the rumor swells

While the name of the future Prime Minister is not yet known, candidates are coming one after the other to replace Gabriel Attal. The former Prime Minister under François Hollande, Bernard Cazeneuve is not closing the door to a return to Matignon.

While French politics is in the dark about Gabriel Attal's successor, candidates are multiplying to take the place of Prime Minister. The Head of State has assured that there will be no nomination before mid-August, some do not hesitate to position themselves.

“I will always be ready”

He had already sat for a few months at Matignon when François Hollande was President of the Republic, Bernard Cazeneuve, present Monday on the LCI set, indicated that he does not rule out returning to Matignon. “I have never refused to put wisdom where there is unreason. If it is necessary to do it collectively, I will always be ready”, he told journalist Darius Rochebin.

"My concern is to ensure that the country does not fall into decline, into instability, into nonsense", he added. The former Prime Minister nevertheless deplores “the country's ungovernability”, but recalls the need to manage France while the country is in total limbo.

He can count on the support of elected socialists, such as Olivier Falorni. “A statesman recognized by the right. A man of the left recognized by the left. For me, Bernard Cazeneuve is the right man to govern France and unite the country”, he noted on his X account (ex-Twitter).

For the moment, while the Olympic Games are a resounding success hailed by Bernard Cazeneuve, Emmanuel Macron continues to think beyond the person he will appoint to replace his current Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal.

Another candidate

The New Popular Front has reached an agreement. Lucie Castets, spokesperson and co-founder of the collective Nos Services Public has been proposed for the post of Prime Minister. She accepted.

Lucie Castets, the senior civil servant proposed by the left for the post of Prime Minister, told AFP on Tuesday that she had accepted "in all humility but with great conviction", considering herself to be a "credible and serious" candidate for Matignon. But the head of state is not in favour for the moment.
