The escalator that was heading up, breaks down and heads down. This change of direction destabilized users, including 11 people who were injured.

A surveillance camera captured this accident. On the video, one of the individuals turned around instantly so as not to fall. Unfortunately, not all passengers had this instinct, most fell.

People around rushed to help the victims. A few moments later, emergency services arrived and transported the injured to the hospital closest to the scene.

Investigations have been opened

"Service and maintenance of the escalator in Uçyol Metro Station was carried out on June 30, a day before the malfunction. The technical team of Metro Inc. and experts from the Izmir branch of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers are working together to determine the cause of the malfunction, legal investigations have also been carried out. open", explains the Metropolitan Municipality of Izmir in a press release.
