A man was arrested overnight from Saturday to Sunday on the roof of the Dortmund stadium, where he was able to climb during the round of 16 of Euro-2024 Germany-Denmark, local police announced on Sunday.
Saturday evening around 10:27 p.m., as the second half of the match between Germany and Denmark was about to begin, a person climbed onto the roof of the Westfalenstadion of Dortmund, renamed BVB Stadion Dortmund for Euro-2024.
The referee of the match, the Englishman Michael Oliver, pointed to the roof of the stadium before starting the second half. The police set up a route to allow the safe arrest of the person, which took place at 11:43 p.m. A video posted on the website of the English media Daily Mail shows a hooded man with a backpack moving around on the roof just before being arrested by the police.
We don't know his motivations
"The person arrested is 21 years old and comes from Osnabrück. Currently, there is nothing to indicate that the man wanted to endanger stadium spectators through his behavior, Dortmund police said in a press release on the night of Saturday to Sunday.
