VIDEO. Euro 2024: why the referee decided to withdraw the penalty stopped by Mike Maignan against Poland

Maignan aurait pu assurer la victoire contre la Pologne. Mais l’arbitre a donné le penalty à retirer. Et les Bleus ont concédé le match nul (1-1).
Would the Blues have the scoumoune ? After having waited a long time for Mbappé to open the score from a penalty (59th), France conceded the draw against Poland in questionable circumstances, after Dayot Upamenaco also caused a penalty on Swiderski (79th).
The Blues have every reason to be frustrated and disappointed since goalkeeper Mike Maignan repelled Robert Lerwandowski's shot on goal for the first time, low to the ground on his right, but the referee the meeting, Marco Guida, gave it to withdraw. Reason given: Maignan stopped the "peno" one meter in front of his line.
In the images, we especially see Lewandoski stopping three times in his race, forcing Maignan to trample and move forward.
Quel dommage… Magic Mike avait sorti l’exploit sur le premier pénalty de Robert Lewandowski. 🇫🇷😶 #EURO2024

Maignan in international form
The second attempt was the good one for the Polish striker, who scored his 83rd goal in his 151st selection for the occasion.
For the Blues, the pill is bitter against a team which had hardly posed any problems for them. But by wasting opportunities, even a Maignan in international form was unable to do anything.
Second in its group, France is nevertheless qualified for the round of 16.
