This Wednesday morning, a mine collapsed under a set of stadiums, creating a crater a dozen meters deep in the middle of the park, in the state of Illinois, in the United States of America.

Wednesday morning, the surveillance cameras of this stadium in Alton, in the American Illinois, recorded a sequence never seen before, underlines CBS NEWS. In the center of this set of stadiums, a gaping hole opens and swallows a lamppost.

The ground suddenly gives way, creating a crater around thirty meters in diameter and around twelve meters deep, according to the authorities.&nbsp ;Michael Haynes, director of the city's parks and recreation department, told CBS NEWS : &quot ;It’was surreal", "A bit like in a movie where the ground falls away from under your feet.". No injuries n& ;rsquo;is to be declared.

An accident due to ground instability

The gaping hole would be due to the partial collapse of a mining cavity, which passed under the stadiums. "The mines have existed for dozens and dozens of years in this region, said Mr. Haynes.

"This has never been mentioned before and is therefore believed to be an exception.’ ;quot; All planned sporting events have been canceled and the park has been closed "while the investigation into the& rsquo;collapse is in progress", the Alton Parks and Recreation Department said on their social media.
