A hiker from Dordogne had the reflex to film his encounter with a bear and her cub in the Ariège Pyrenees. The baby is the first cub detected in 2024 in this area.

The man, a lover of mountains, was walking in the Couserans massif when his attention was attracted by a noise, "like the barking of a puppy. It was the little bear cub calling for his mother. I was able to observe them for more than two hours, he told SudOuest.

"Emotion and surprise"

The forty-year-old first saw the mother, then her little one. Realizing that the female was preoccupied after spotting her, he immediately left the area after recording images, taken up by the Pays de l’Ours-Adet association.
