VIDEO. Violent storm, precipitation… a deluge hits Montpellier, slowdowns on the A9 motorway

De violents orages touche ce vendredi 2 août l’est du département de l’Hérault.

This heavy rainfall fell in a matter of minutes on the Montpellier region. On the A9 motorway and the A 709, where traffic is very heavy on the eve of the “crossing”, slowdowns are reported near Montpellier. In the early evening, Vinci Autoroute announced significant slowdowns in Lunel in both directions of traffic.

Slowdowns on the roads

The water that quickly accumulated on the roadway forced motorists to brake repeatedly. This Friday, August 2, the Hérault department was placed on storm alert by Météo France.

In Montpellier, the municipality has decided to close certain points identified as flood-prone.
