During a German championship match between Bayern Munich and Mainz this Saturday March 9, Frenchman Joshua Guilavogui was violently hit in the head. The match referee then rushed to the player to administer first aid.
This Saturday, March 9, while Mainz was trailing after half an hour of play on the Bayern Munich pitch, the French midfielder from the visiting team stood ;collapsed on the pitch, unconscious, following a big impact to his head against the knee of one of his teammates.
Patrick Ittrich; the referee of the match, very responsive, quickly stopped the game and rushed to the former French international, and began to help him, with first aid gestures. The players from both teams then surround the referee and observe putting the former Stéphanois in a lateral safety position, before the Mainz medical staff takes his player in charge.

"His tongue was deep in her throat"
It was several minutes later that the match was finally able to resume. After the match, the referee returned to this first aid gesture which undoubtedly saved Guilavogui: "When someone is lying like that, we must act quickly. His tongue was in the back of his throat and blocking his airway, I pulled it out and he was able to start breathing. Then the club doctors arrived and took over."
Widely congratulated, the German referee insists: "I have no praise to receive. I& I just did what I had to do, nothing more. I am trained for this type of intervention."
