Viticulture: Laudun officially becomes the 18th vintage of Côtes-du-Rhône!

A recognition that crowns “the real qualitative and collective dynamic engaged in recent years on both reds and white Laudun”, announces the interprofessional organization. Midi Libre Archives – STEPHANE BARBIER

In 2013, the Laudun winegrowers filed an application for accession to the “Laudun Local Appellation” with the INAO. The result of a long process, the recognition as an AOC has just been validated.

The winegrowers of Laudun had filed in 2013 a file for accession to "Appellation Locale Laudun" with the INAO (National Institute of Origin and Quality). Last week, “the National Committee voted in favor of its recognition, thus crowning the real qualitative and collective dynamics undertaken in recent years on both the reds and the Lauduns whites", announces Inter Rhône, the interprofessional union, via a press release.

White wines represent 32% of production

In 2023, the Laudun vineyard, which until now was in appellation “villages”, produced 22,390 hectoliters of wine for a total surface area of 591 hectares. Note : white wines represent 32% of total production, “a major asset for Laudun in view of consumers' appetite for this color”. The appellation therefore officially becomes the 18th vintage of the Côtes-du-Rhône!
“Impatient to share the fruits of their labor, The winegrowers and merchants of the new vintage will meet at the beginning of next year, with the highlight being Wine Paris in February, for the first tastings and to unveil their many projects.”
