Volleyball: Arago de Sète raises its head at home

Timo Beriot a réussi son entrée, c’est lui qui a conclu la soirée. MIDI LIBRE – Jérôme Belluire

Les hommes de Luc Marquet se sont imposés 3-1, ce samedi 3 février, face à Poitiers.

The series of five defeats is finally over, Arago revolted in front of his audience.

At the start, the Sétois stumbled on the opposing block, despite a decent reception (8-11). Fortunately, the Poitevins were not exempt from all suspicion either and the score was balanced at 17-17. The problem was that despite their defensive efforts, the Sétois were unable to conclude the exchanges. This was the case at 20-22, it was still the case on the next point…hellip; A set which ended with a block from Walsh on Zanotti (21-25).

End of set scares

Gauna, on the block, then sounded the revolt (11-9) then the break was made at 18-13 with a counter, with one hand, from Zanotti on Toy. Sète was scared, but a final attack from Rippert concluded the set (25-22).

An ace from Gauna maintained the momentum in the 3rd set (7-3), but it was still too inconsistent (9-5, then 9-9). However, Poitiers did not get ahead and we even thought that it was done after an attack from Diop (24-21) and especially a mistake from Toy. But the challenge proved Brice Donat right and we had to return to the fight (24-24). After saving a set point, Arago leaned on Beriot, author of a big attack then a block on Toy, who then lost the lead (28-26).

Beriot as a finisher

In the last act, the tension was maximum between two teams who did not want to let go of each other. The break was finally made at 23-21 with a missed attack from Toy. And it was Beriot, author of a remarkable entry, who took charge of settling the matter with two particularly bloody attacks (25-23).
