Each in three consecutive defeats, both teams had a lot to make up for. Only one will succeed. And the Arago of Sète, since it is her, will not even have needed to force too much.

The first point of the match was misleading, Demyanenko blocking Kreek from the start. As for the rest, it quickly lacked consistency. Too tight in reception, the Montpellier people experienced serious difficulties during Gonzalez's transition to service. Long diagonal, ace, tactical play… The Spaniard made the total and the score went from 6-6 to 11-6.

Cardin collapses

At 15-12, an icy wind swept through the stands of Barrou. On the ground, Cardin had just injured his knee and Arago had just lost his point. However, the Sétois did not let themselves be defeated and even continued their march forward: 18-12, then 22-16 after an ace from Gonzalez. Garcia then took care of bringing up two balls in defense and Sète won without forcing (25-18).

Nothing changed afterwards, Gonzalez signed his fifth attack of the set at 20-17 then Diop put his team under cover, in defense then in attack (23-19). Montpellier completely collapsed and the set ended with a block from Kreek on Martilla then an ace from Diop (25-19).

Montpellier lacks consistency

With their backs against the wall, the MHSC VB finally reacted and moved to 10-12 on a missed attack from Diop. But we were still far from recovery. A block from Gauna on Martilla and two trickster attacks from Zanotti caused trouble (17-16). Fortunately for Montpellier, Le Goff and Demyanenko are skilled and kept a cool head to finish the job (22-25).

It lacked consistency, however. From 15-12, Sète coolly ensured the "side out", until the break signed Zanotti (22-18). Once again, the MHSC VB cracked and it was Diop, serving and attacking, who was responsible for completing this derby (25-19).
