Ukraine launched an attack in Russia, in the Kursk region, leaving several injured.

Russia said on Tuesday that Ukraine launched an attack in the Kursk region in southern Russia, but its forces repelled it.

Around twenty injured

The region's interim governor, Alexeï Smirnov, said five people had been killed in the fighting, including two paramedics, and that at least 20 were injured. Ukraine did not comment, but there were signs of fighting on the Ukrainian side of the border.

The Russian Defense Ministry said reservists had been sent to the southern border to repel an offensive by the Ukrainian army. For its part, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army reported Russian strikes on border villages in the Sumy region, without mentioning an attack by Ukrainian troops in the area.

A statement released earlier by the Russian Defense Ministry indicated that a “group “Ukrainian saboteurs” had attempted to attack the Kursk region before retreating in the face of Russian troops, appeared to have been withdrawn. Alexei Smirnov said the fighting had cost the lives of three Russian civilians, one by artillery fire and two by drones.

In a video posted on Telegram, acting regional governor Alexei Smirnov said that "several thousand people have left the bombing zone& quot;, where the fighting continues, according to the Russian army.
