Water polo: no fifth derby won, place in the classification match for Sète

Sète Natation s’est incliné ce samedi 27 avril dans le bassin de Montpellier : 13-11
We would have delighted, on the Singular Island, with a fifth consecutive victory against Montpellier WP. This neighbor who, for so many years, forbade the Sétois from tasting the sweet flavor of a won derby.
In two seasons, Sète Natation has reversed the situation, signing four victories in as many matches. And we got a taste for it near Fonquerne. But the series unfortunately ended this Saturday, April 27 in the Angelotti swimming pool, at the end of a once again contested meeting.
Sète winner of the "second" championship
If the start of the match was for the Sétois (0-2), the locals were then able to take the lead. They widened the gap to 9-6 but Olivier Chandieu's men pulled back to 9-8, before giving in again at the end of the match. A defeat with no other consequence than the loss of regional supremacy. Because for the rest, the Sétois had already done the work. This season, five teams were far superior in this French Elite championship. To the point of splitting the competition in two. And Sète Natation therefore won the “second” championship, which delivered the last European ticket.
See you this Tuesday, April 30
The regular phase is therefore over, not the season. The Sète polo players will indeed have to move on very quickly to the classification match for fifth place.
It will be this Tuesday April 30, at 8 p.m. in Fonquerne, against Tourcoing before the return match scheduled for Saturday. The Northerners, once in the top 4, notably paid the price for the rise in power of Aix. And therefore finished fifth due to the victory of Noisy-le-Sec, this Sunday April 28 at the end of the day, at second place Strasbourg.
