“We can't do anything”: for two months, a water table has overflowed and flooded the cellars of their building

For almost two months, the cellars of a building in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) have been flooded, causing overflows up to the entrance of the building. The cause: the overflow of a water table. For the moment, no work can be carried out.

The situation has been going on for two months. In Nice, in the Saint-Roch district, the basements of a building are flooded due to the rising water table. Results: a large puddle stagnates in front of the entrance to the building and around ten centimeters of water cover the floor of the cellars.

However, to date, no solution can be proposed: "We cannot do anything before the level drops because it’ there are some welds to be done, we need electricity. It will then be necessary to create a network which will be connected to rainwater", declares the director of the Citya Dalbera agency which takes care of the trustee of the&rsquo ;building near Nice-matin.

100 m3 per hour

The residents, for their part, are no longer surprised: "The building has already suffered rising water in 2019 following severe bad weather because it is built on old watercress beds, relates one of them to our colleagues. If the situation is not unknown to them, the water level continues to rise and has reached unprecedented proportions to date with nearly 100 m3 of water per hour.

Faced with such a flow, the work will most certainly not be able to begin this summer.
