We reveal to you the contours of Place Max-Rouquette which will replace the Arceaux car park in Montpellier

Après la suppression du parking, des travaux vont être engagés pour effectuer une "véritable transformation de la place". Voici le projet.

The goal is to replace cars with a place that can accommodate passers-by. Renovation and beautification work on Place Max-Rouquette will begin in April and the place should be completed by the second half of 2025.

Create a new space with trees

The objective is to create a central space in the neighborhood which will accommodate a garden where children can come and play and people can enjoy this natural space in the middle of the city. Trees will be planted to provide shade in summer. The square will thus be a place of freshness with permeable soils to let water pass through and promote biodiversity.

A place to host events

The project is also to allow this square to host cultural, sporting or commercial events. A seasonal catering kiosk will also be integrated into the design large vegetated terraces.

As the City specifies: "South of the aqueduct, freshness lounges, planted and equipped with games, will complete the composition. These two wooded spaces will frame the center of the square materialized by the symbolic influence of a tambourine playing field."
