This Wednesday, May 15, 2024, a Boeing 737, connecting Paris to Rome, made an emergency landing at Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport " following the appearance of a hot smell felt in the rear galley of the cabin", specifying "that’it was a malfunction of equipment", explains Transavia, interviewed by Le Parisien. A decision taken by "precaution", following the instructions of the company.

The problems started once the plane arrived in Lyon, at 11:30 a.m. "As soon as we entered the airport, it was an impossible chaos", describes Sébastin, a passage from vol. The crew had told the 198 passengers that a solution would be found quickly, but they had to wait without any information. "We were taken from door to door by the display of the screens which kept changing, but no one said anything to us", says Sébastien.

6 hours waiting

The passengers ultimately had to wait 6 hours to get initial information. "It’was lunar", says Nathalie before adding "it’s really the wait until 5’ ;nbsp;hours without news which was delicate. We understand the technical problems. The lack of information was catastrophic, who was traveling on a business trip.

"It’s shameful. We were condemned to stay in the registration area. If we decided to leave this area, we could no longer re-enter it. We were sort of prisoners", laments Nathalie. The positive point: solidarity between the passengers."There were no fights, cries of discontent", explains Sébastien.

According to our colleagues, it was finally only around 6:30 p.m. that the passengers were able to return to a plane bound for Rome, landing after 20 hours .
