“We would prefer not to do it but we have no choice”: a young woman falsifies her fixed-term contract to find accommodation

A young employee chose to lie about her employment contract to find accommodation. With 2,000 euros per month, his situation was however "far from being precarious".

She is on a fixed-term contract, her boyfriend is in professional training. With their statuses, "the agencies made us understand that we would not find", confides Claire (the first name has been changed) , 23 years old, to our colleagues from Parisien.

CDD transformed into CDI

The young woman then decides to falsify her fixed-term contract into a permanent contract to find a rental. She asks for the permanent contract of a colleague and the help of a graphic designer friend who modifies the contract with software.

"All my freelance friends do it. It’s not comfortable, we would prefer not to do it, but we have no choice…", she tells the Parisian.

"Aberrant"

His income, with 2 000 euros per month, is not bad, his guarantors are "very good" but his status blocks his search for accommodation. The young woman denounces a situation "aberrant" and a market too far from the social reality of the French.

"As there is less and less housing available, landlords are all-powerful", says she to our colleagues.

After a month, Claire finally found it but nonetheless remains indignant at what she perceives as a &amp ;quot;demonization of tenants. It's not because there are some deadbeats that we should penalize everyone!"
