Weather alert: storms, hail, gusts… 8 departments including 6 in Occitanie placed on orange alert

Météo France placed, this Thursday, July 11 at 11 a.m., 8 departments on orange alert for storms, 6 of which are located in Occitanie. Affected by this alert: Aveyron, Haute-Garonne, Lozère, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne, Lot, Cantal and Haute-Loire.

“A worsening of the level of vigilance in the departments bordering those already in orange is not excluded”, adds Météo France.

Who speaks of a “stormy episode requiring particular vigilance given the risk of heavy rain, hail and to a lesser extent strong gusts wind”. The phenomenon should start around 6 p.m.

Eight departments on alert

“Thunderstorms are circulating during the day this Thursday from New Aquitaine towards the Auvergne-Rhônes-Alpes region. They may already be quite marked, detail the forecasters.

"At the end of the afternoon, more intense storms are triggered from the southwest of the country to the Massif Central, particularly in the departments in orange where hail and heavy rain can be observed, and sometimes wind gusts approaching 100 km/h. The storms move during the night towards the Rhône-Alpes region, losing a little intensity, specifies the forecast site.
