Weather: yellow alert for thunderstorms in almost all of Occitania, what to expect in the coming hours ?

A stormy wave will sweep across France from the southwest to the northwest during the day this Sunday, May 5.

Sometimes strong thunderstorms are expected from the southwest of the country to the Rhône and South Burgundy in the afternoon and evening of this Sunday, May 5, announces Météo France , which placed two-thirds of our country (61 departments) and almost all of Occitania on yellow alert. These storms"are accompanied by hail and heavy rain intensities" specifies the organization, which indicates that the gusts of wind " do not generally exceed 80 km/h".

There are no plans to go into orange alert mode this Sunday, "but this situation remains under surveillance" specifies Météo France which therefore does not exclude occasional damage. Thunderstorms should mainly affect Haute-Garonne and Tarn in the afternoon and evening, as well as Biterrois, to a lesser extent. In Occitanie, only the ;nbsp;department of Pyrénées-Orientales, where drought has been raging for several months, escapes this yellow vigilance.

Storms return Tuesday

Rain is however expected in Roussillon from Monday, especially in the afternoon, with risks of thunderstorms in the Pyrenees. The weather will also remain unsettled during the day on Tuesday in Occitanie, where after nice clearings during the day, storms should return at the end of the day, in the Pyrénées-Orientales as in the Gard.
