La doctorante de Toulouse Mélissa Mannucci cherche à comprendre la relation entre l’homme et le moustique-tigre. Pour cela, elle sollicite aujourd’hui la participation des occitans à un questionnaire en ligne.

Mélissa Mannucci, a PhD student in sociology at Paul-Sabatier-Toulouse 3 University, is looking for residents of Occitanie to participate in a study on the tiger mosquito. This project, supported by Santé Publique France and the Occitanie region, aims to explore how citizens perceive the nuisances and risks associated with this insect. “The goal is to better understand how people in the region live with the tiger mosquito and what they know about it”, she explains to Actu.

Her research looks at the effectiveness of public policies in the face of this problem, while analyzing the actions taken by citizens. To expand her data, Mélissa has already conducted several interviews and now wants to collect additional responses via an online questionnaire. “I hope to get a thousand responses so that the sample is representative.”

Her thesis, which began in March 2022, is due to be completed in spring 2025. “My goal is to suggest ways to improve, modify or even create new public policies to prevent the tiger mosquito”, she tells our colleagues. The results of this study could also be applied to other health and environmental issues.
