Les premières rencontres des Villages d’avenir se sont tenues ce mercredi à Cabrières en présence du préfet de l'Hérault et de maires des 18 villages dont les projets ont été retenus dans le cadre du label VDA, Villages D'Avenir.

A good example is sometimes more eloquent than long speeches. This Wednesday morning, Marilyse Malafosse, first deputy of Cabrières, on the front line on the media library project carried out in the village, patiently recalled its history, detailed the difficulties encountered and insisted on the usefulness of this ;be accompanied by an essential "programmer" also Project Management Assistant.

Chosen Ones in the Jungle

From the idea to its realization, the project will have taken the shape of a real obstacle course, riddled with pitfalls, setbacks and rich in empirical knowledge which will, finally, have enabled to touch a dream: a luminous achievement which still took eight years to come out of the ground. "We built our way by moving through the jungle of all the steps to take to create a building", formulated the elected official.

The VDA

label

Feedback and valuable advice which will serve as an example for the mayors of the eighteen municipalities labeled Villages of the Future who, on May 22, discovered the cultural infrastructure alongside François-Xavier Lauch, prefect of Hérault, came to present the outlines of the VDA system on the occasion of the first meeting of villages for the future (VDA). Indeed, after the Cœur de Ville programs in urban areas, the PVD schemes, Small Towns of Tomorrow for the attention of central towns, here are the VDAs intended in particular to provide engineering assistance to rural municipalities whose projects were selected (see box). "I also believe a lot in this system because it’is a measure that brings together several others", presented François Xavier Lauch, prefect of Hérault. A VDA which intends, through this label, to answer the questions: « Where is it most complicated to launch projects ? Where is public engineering lacking the most ? » The answer contained in the question, the State, therefore “identified a first wave (of municipalities) where we had mayors motivated, who carry out several projects and who are well distributed to cover the territory which will benefit from engineering assistance".

Mayors testify

In charge of the system in Hérault, project manager Stéphanie Renault (read below) will be mobilized to help elected officials prioritize their projects, to "mobilize technical engineering which, in reality exists here and there*" and will guide them "towards the right funding" , summarized the state representative.

Enough to clear the administrative and financial "jungle” and allow project leaders to move forward with a more alert and light step. What those first concerned, the mayors of these municipalities who came to testify to their difficulties, aspire to. "I am a young mayor but, in reality, four years in office is at least 20 years. I am also a farmer. We are ultra-motivated, we want our territories to be attractive. With Covid, we lost two years. We are launching avenues for the future but I have some fears regarding the level of commitment and the vocations crisis. There are many obstacles to the function of elected official. But this device comes at a time when we have a clearer idea of the needs", diagnosed Jim Ronez, mayor of Fraisse-sur-Agout.x

The prefect of Hérault, François Xavier Lauch notably mentioned the engineering of the New Territorial Council and that of local communities « those of the intercos, that of the department's operators such as Hérault ingénierie, Hérault energie… »

Projects stamped VDA

Myriam Gairaud, mayor of Cabrières, presented the project to develop the historic site of the Pioch Farrus copper mine within the framework of VDA. Thibault Barral presented the broad outlines of the prospects for the rehabilitation of the Pouget school, work on the roads, sports equipment projects… Stéphanie Renault, VDA project manager, presented the list of projects "which are rooted in dreams or necessity, sometimes both". Examples of identified projects: "What future for the Campotel in Fraïsse-sur-Agoût ? What future for the deconsecrated church, in Navacelles which wishes to install a new ambitious cultural and tourist function there ? What functions commercial and/or rental in Candillargues which is rehabilitating a vernacular barn in the heart of the village… " So many questions that VDA intends to answer.
