“With the western bypass, it’s the end of the little birds…”

La partie nord du chemin du Carreau-de-Lanes bientôt fibrée ?

Les habitants ont exprimé leur inquiétude lors de l’assemblée générale du comité.

The general meeting of the neighborhood committee recalled: the western bypass is a major concern for the residents of Carreau-de-Lanes. Some homes, notably Roches-Blanches, are located just two hundred meters from the route. Noise pollution is therefore to be expected in this area of scrubland, where we have chosen to live sheltered from the noise of the city and traffic. Not to mention the inconvenience caused by the rock breaker, which will be heard throughout the duration of the work, i.e. several years… We are therefore very anxious on the banks of the main road in the district: &quot ;Here, it's the end of the little birds, and we are very worried about our environment." Another resident wonders: "The destruction of 185 hectares of scrubland doesn't bother anyone ?"

The Caveirac Vaunage association, which has been fighting since 2007 against the project of this western bypass, responded to the invitation of the neighborhood committee. "The public inquiry revealed that 70% of the population was hostile to the project, but we were not heard. However, we continue our fight." Serge Delaunay, the president of the neighborhood committee, questioned the assembly: "Can our committee pay money to the Caveirac association Vaunage to participate financially in its action ?" Many participants said they were in favor.

"Optical fiber is like Arlesienne"< /h2>

Another subject discussed, that of optical fiber. For the president of the committee, "fiber is like Arlesienne. We talk about it, but we don't see it coming." "The northern part of Chemin du Carreau-de-Lanes should soon be fiberized", local residents are assured.

< p>Another local resident, who lives in a lane adjacent to this road, is in despair: "There are fourteen or fifteen houses here that are not connected, and the internet and TV work poorly or not at all. However, everywhere else in the area, it is fiberized."

To be continued.

Finally, the rules of the legal obligation to clear brush have been clarified. It is recalled that any owner of an inhabited plot has the obligation to clear their land fifty meters from their home. A distance which could be increased to one hundred meters, as is already the case in certain regions of France. A law which scandalizes many residents, knowing that everyone eventually finds themselves obliged to clear brush themselves, and at their own expense, land belonging to a defaulting neighbor.

A visit to the neighborhood with elected officials was also carried out immediately, with a view to resolving problems related to travel safety. We will come back to this.
