Women's Tour de France: Frenchwoman Cédrine Kerbaol wins the 6th solo stage in Morteau

La Française Cédrine Kerbaol a remporté en solitaire le 6e étape du Tour de France femmes, vendredi à Morteau (Doubs) et s'installe à la 2e place du classement général, à 16 secondes de la Polonaise Katarzyna Niewiadoma.
Frenchwoman Cédrine Kerbaol won the 6th stage of the women's Tour de France solo on Friday in Morteau (Doubs) and moved into 2nd place in the general classification, 16 seconds behind Poland's Katarzyna Niewiadoma. She is the first Frenchwoman to win a stage since the return of the Tour de France in 2022, 35 years after Jeannie Longo.

Winner of the Tour last year, the Dutchwoman Demi Vollering, victim of an impressive fall on Thursday, reassured by finishing 12th in the same time as Niewiadoma, 21 seconds behind Kerbaol. The Tour de France switches this weekend to the Alps for its last two stages where the race should be decided.
The young Breton (23 years old) is the first Frenchwoman to win on the Tour route since the competition was revived in 2022. Before her, we have to go back to Jeannie Longo in 1989 to find the last success of a local rider on one of the precursors of this competition.
The leader of the German team Ceratizit, who wore the white jersey for the best young rider last year, built her success by attacking at the top of the last of the day's five difficulties, the Côte des Fins, 15 kilometers from the line.
Labous and Muzic in the top 10
A group of 18 riders, including the Dutchwoman Marianne Vos, had animated the beginning of the stage, attacking after 40 km of racing without however being able to create a sufficient gap on the peloton before the last difficulties.

The peloton, driven by Juliette Labous who accelerated in front of her fan club, caught the last breakaways 16 kilometers from the line, in the final difficulty of the day, before the big number signed by Kerbaol.
The sprint of the peloton of favorites, arrived 21 seconds after Kerbaol, was settled by Vos. Frenchwomen Juliette Labous and Evita Muzic finished 9th and 10th respectively, without any effect on their position in the general classification where Labous is still in 5th position (56 seconds behind Niewiadoma) and Muzic 11th at 1'21''.
