You have a pink paper driving license ? Here's how long it's valid and how to change it now

Starting in 2033, holders of the pink cardboard license will be required to change it. It is possible to replace it now.

We must be prepared for it. The pink cardboard license will not be valid forever. As of January 19, 2033 precisely, the sesame will no longer be valid.

It will have to be replaced by the new model in plastic credit card format with electronic chip in force since 2013, reports the Mercipourlinfo website.

The deadline is certainly still far away, but it is possible to replace your license now. It is better to anticipate, warns the Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information to “avoid being faced with congestion of the services dedicated to this task”, cites Mercipourlinfo.

To obtain the license in bank card format, the procedure is free. The request is made on the website of the National Agency for Secure Documents (ANTS), in a “quick” way, in “10 minutes”, guarantees the government website.

How to proceed ?

You just have to log in, click on the reason  “I am requesting the production of a driving license" and follow the different steps until the process is validated.

When requesting a replacement, you will need to provide the following documents in digital format, reminds Mercipourlinfo:

proof of identity (national identity card valid or expired for less than 5 years, biometric passport valid or expired for less than 5 years …)  ; proof of address (a bill dated less than 6 months for water, electricity, gas or landline or mobile telephone, a tax notice or non-tax notice, a rent receipt …)  ; a digital photo signature (this is a photograph that also includes a digital representation of your signature, and which is taken in a photo booth approved by the National Agency for Secure Documents or by a professional photographer also approved by ANTS). If you wish to send a paper ID photo, you will be prompted at the end of the process to download and then send a photo signature submission form; the pink cardboard license to be replaced (even if it will no longer be valid, you will not be required to return it when you have received your new title in “credit card” format) If necessary, a Cerfa medical opinion form when your driving license requires it
