The musical project brings together students from the Paul-Marcelin, Paul-Langevin, Henri-Wallon, Enclos-Rey, Léo-Rousson, Mont-Duplan and Jules-Verne colleges.

The young participants in the Harmonîmes orchestra will be on stage this Monday evening, at the Bernadette-Lafont theater for a concert in the company of musicians from the Harmonie de Nîmes, an ensemble of musicians from the conservatory directed by Alexy Blanchard.

Founded around ten years ago, the Harmonîmes orchestra is a wonderful project that brings together students from the Paul-Marcelin, Paul-Langevin, Henri-Wallon, Enclos-Rey, Léo-Rousson, Mont- Duplan and the Jules-Verne college. "The students meet every week for instrumental practice workshops, they work with teachers who travel", explains Kristine Charmasson, president of the HarmoNîmes association. "Five times a year, they also meet for masterclasses at college, to work together", she continues.

Prestigious partners

Ambitious, the project is supported by leading artistic partners. For five years, the young musicians were accompanied by Zahia Ziouani, who directs the Divertimento ensemble. Then in very different styles, they worked with the Afrobeat musician Muyiwa Kunnuji or with the trad pop group Sur la bouche.

This year, the students met the musicians of the Volques, with whom they are preparing an educational concert for the end of the year. In line with the theme of the future festival, they notably offer tunes of Czech music, but also of Beethoven or Harry Belafonte, before giving way to musicians from the conservatory who reinterpret popular tunes from Rosalia, ABBA or Kool and the gang .
