Heatwave, storms: 56 departments now on orange alert this Tuesday… where the phenomena could be the most intense ?

After the heatwave, the storms. Paris, like 10 other departments, has been placed on orange alert for storms, while the Olympic Games are taking place. Météo France is predicting a risk of heavy rain.

Now 56 French departments are on orange alert. This Tuesday July 30, while 45 departments are on heatwave alert, 11 others have been added to this level of alert for risks of storms.

In the departments placed on orange alert, there is a significant risk of strong thunderstorms with intense precipitation, hail and gusts of wind , indicates Météo France .

At the same time, 45 departments are still on orange heat wave alert. "The intense heat will progress towards the north of the country. 35 to 36 °C will be reached or exceeded over a large part of the country, except in the Brittany, Normandy, northern Pays-de-Loire, Hauts-de-France and Grand-Est regions. Scorching temperatures will continue at least until Wednesday evening", notes Météo France in its vigilance bulletin.

The west of Occitanie is also affected by a yellow alert for storms, like a large part of the territory. This Wednesday, the weather should remain stormy over the northern two-thirds of the country, Météo France predicts.
