“I will not be at the start”: Kevin Mayer renounces the decathlon of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Montpellier decathlete Kevin Mayer was the focus of all attention this Thursday, August 1st with his physical tests. He decided to withdraw.

Some saw a worrying attitude. Others, on the contrary, a reassuring approach. Kévin Mayer tested himself this Thursday, August 1st in the morning, twenty-four hours before the start of his decathlon. The Montpellier native has had a lambo thigh since tearing his hamstring during the Diamond League on July 7th. His participation was uncertain until the end.

“Tests inconclusive”

This Thursday afternoon, he finally announced his final decision. He will not participate in the Olympic decathlon. 

"Unfortunately the tests were not conclusive, they do not give any hope of being competitive tomorrow. It is the law of sport and it is harsh. I will not be at the start of the decathlon", he wrote on his networks.
