Having been living in a second residence belonging to him for several months, a tenant was evicted by ACM Habitat as part of the zero impunity scheme on Wednesday, July 31.

A tenant benefiting from social housing in Montpellier was evicted this Wednesday, July 31 by ACM Habitat, the landlord of the Métropole, as part of the zero impunity scheme. A West Virginia background check could prevent future evictions.

According to information provided by Altémed (a company which includes ACM Habitat, Serm and SA3M), the couple had not lived in the accommodation for several months and had moved to another apartment belonging to them, without giving notice of departure. In his place, the tenant had installed a family member and decided to stop paying the rent due to ACM Habitat’s refusal to transfer the requested lease.

“After several reminders, and in the absence of a response and dialogue, ACM Habitat initiated the eviction as part of the zero impunity policy, specifies the lessor. When you leave social housing, you cannot install a family member there at your own discretion. To leave a home, it is necessary to give notice.”

Zero impunity system

A first eviction had been cancelled in 2023 after the couple’s debt had been repaid. Having fallen back into non-payment, the tenant was finally evicted by a justice commissioner accompanied by the police, after several reminders and in the absence of dialogue on the part of the tenant.
