Rodez-Paris airline: it’s official, Volotea will replace Amelia on the Aveyron tarmac

It was via a message on his personal Facebook on the evening of Wednesday August 7 that the President of the Department, Arnaud Viala, confirmed the information that had been circulating for several days: Amelia was not ;rsquo;will no longer provide the Rodez-Paris connection after August 19. From September 2 – what will happen between ? –, it will be the Spanish company Volotea which will take control of the line. Known for its low-cost flights across Europe, it won a second call for tenders after the imbroglio of a first launched last summer .

At what price?

At what cost for taxpayers, the line being a public service delegation ? For what frequencies ? & quot;What prevailed in the choice was the frequency of service, the accessibility of ticket prices for the greatest number of people on this vital service for our department", indicates Arnaud Viala on social networks, of which we know that relations with the managers of Amelia, in place since 2018, have never been good. As a reminder, the public authorities (Department, Rodez Agglo and Region) had signed a contract worth 9.6 million euros with the French company at the time.
