A Saint-Clément-de-Rivière, le pôle Aurores Méditerranée, ouvert il y a tout juste un an, a eu droit, ce jeudi, à une inauguration en grande pompe.

The place to be. This Thursday afternoon of the week of the return to school, without a doubt, it was in Saint-Clément-de-Rivière that you had to be. President of the metropolis and elected representatives of all the chambers, presidents of universities and faculties, CEO of the Regional Health Agency, of the Montpellier University Hospital… For nearly two hours of speeches and an official inauguration that was somewhat of an anniversary, one year to the day after the launch of this new structure.

A partnership in the form of a health cooperation group

All these wonderful people were there to celebrate Aurores Méditerranée. What are we talking about? ? The (new) rehabilitation center geographically integrated into the Ster clinic, and legally the third dedicated clinic of the family group (already established in Saint-Clément and in Lamalou). But the originality highlighted by each of the actors and speakers present lies in the partnership set up. A public-private association in the form of a health cooperation group. With, on one side, the Ster santé group, which made the investment, and, on the other, the Montpellier University Hospital. Represented by Gwenola Ster, CEO of the eponymous group, and Anne Ferrer, CEO of the Montpellier hospital, who highlighted the medical continuum that patients benefit from, all the advantages that result from it and… their friendship. "We have an operating agreement, they emphasize. Decisions are concerted."

The establishment thus houses 140 beds and places: 33 in multipurpose rehabilitation, 15 in oncological rehabilitation, 32 in geriatrics and 60 concerning the digestive, metabolic and endocrine system. “We are the only specialized establishment authorized to provide care for digestive disorders in the department“, says Gwenola Ster.

The strength of the liberal, the expertise of the public

Opened a year ago, the Aurores Méditerranée rehabilitation center has gradually grown in size and welcomed 1,000 patients, supported by a staff of one hundred people (800 CVs received at the time of recruitment). It was designed to receive 2,000 annually. In short, a success that Patrice Taourel, president of the CME of the CHU, summarizes in particular not without humor by the union of a “liberal force with its capacity to decide quickly with the absence of a public procurement code and the CHU with its specialized experts".

"If these are roses…"

In fact, patients of the rehabilitation center can be welcomed before and after their stay in the hospital, for better overall care and with improved monitoring around a “concerted medical project”. Enough to be renewed later on a larger scale ? This seems a more than plausible option. “Making public-private partnerships is stimulating but so demanding, concludes Anne Ferrer. If they are roses, they will bloom.”
