“It's a complete disaster, we have nothing left”: squatted all summer by travellers, a devastated premises in Occitanie

The Sesquières greyhound track, site of the Toulouse Greyhound Racing Club, was occupied for nearly two months by travelers. The association denounces the extent of the damage. The premises were completely “devastated and looted”.
"The Toulouse-Sesquières dog track has been devastated and is no longer able to continue its dog activities in its current state", the greyhound racing club announced on its Facebook page in September 2024.
The Sesquières dog track site, which belongs to Toulouse Métropole but is operated by this association, was occupied for nearly two months by travellers, recalls in particular News.
Significant damage
“The damage is significant (premises made unsanitary, electricity and water networks ransacked and dangerous, faulty exterior installations…). “Expertise is underway and the restoration of the site may take some time,” the club said in the same post on social media.
Access is currently prohibited and the entrance blocked to prevent further intrusions and illegal camps.
“Demolished” or “Destroyed” Facilities
“It's a complete disaster, we have nothing left, everything has to be bought or rebuilt,” said the Toulouse greyhound racing club, quoted by Actu. Furniture, track equipment, tools, various equipment were stolen according to them.
"All exterior and interior installations were “demolished or destroyed” , the club sums up, before adding: “The pipes were deliberately destroyed, the electric wires ripped off…"
The 2024 season would be announced " “heavily compromised” for this club of enthusiasts who organize greyhound training and racing all year round.
An investigation has been opened by the police to determine all responsibilities.
