The tallest tower in the region will have disappeared in 2025
#MONTPELLIERSymbol of the entire Paillade district, since renamed Mosson in 2000 by Georges Frêche, the Assas tower will be demolished by trimming. The work began this Monday, September 23. “There are 22 floors, we will proceed floor by floor”, explains Fabien Granon, operations manager at ACM Habitat.
Built in 1969, the tower of 162 housing units was 55 years old. By spring 2025, it will have been razed, symbol of a neighborhood that will be renovated for “half a billion euros” according to Michaël Delafosse, the mayor. "We destroy, but there is a history, a coherence. Education, sport… We take care of the buildings but also of the human being ! “It's another decade of work,” he added.
The HLM hold a three-day congress

#MONTPELLIER Hérault nurse Fabienne Sicot, who climbed Everest in 2023 despite a double handicap – brittle bone disease and ankylosing spondylitis –, is about to conquer a second Himalayan peak of more than 8,000 meters, Manaslu.
After several rotations from the base camp to reacclimatize to the very high altitude, the Montpellier native set off on the final race on Sunday, reaching camp 3 (6,800 m) in the evening.
After a few hours of “rest”, she was due to resume her route on Monday at 7 p.m. to reach the summit (8,163 m) on Tuesday in the early morning. The feat would be all the more remarkable if Fabienne Sicot made this ascent without the supply of oxygen.
