A collection launched to finance the purchase of premises for the new Frontignan mosque

The Muslim cultural association of Frontignan has launched an online fundraiser to buy an old sports hall to create its new mosque.

It is customary to say that streams make great rivers. So, for now, only 9,460 € of the 600,000 needed (i.e. 1%) were collected online, on the CotizUp website as part of the project to purchase the old sports hall at 28 avenue de la Libération in Frontignan for the city's new mosque.

The current room is no longer in compliance

"The Muslim cultural association of Frontignan has been planning for several years to acquire a new place of worship, because the current one located at 31 rue de la Font, is no longer suitable to accommodate public and pray in good conditions, even more so since the latest restrictions this summer, explains the manifesto of this online collection launched on November 12. "We can no longer offer prayers there during the month of Ramadan, nor even Friday prayers because the premises cannot accommodate all the faithful in complete safety". The premises actually suffer from the dilapidation of the buildings in this block which the municipality also wishes to rehabilitate.

Principle of a hire purchase

For the movement of the Essalam mosque in Frontignan, it is planned that this will be done under the principle of hire purchase over a period of three years, which will allow the ;association to raise the necessary funds, while paying rent which will then be deducted from the final purchase price.

The new premises would be usable immediately

Remains that according to the call for financial contribution, "this new premises (the old sports hall) mostly meets our expectations: location close to the city center, parking nearby, larger surface area and capacity (the surface area is 750 m2). In addition, the desired premises meets ERP (establishment open to the public) standards. It also requires little work and could be used immediately. The only question of importance now: from what level reached by online collection, will the old sports hall be able to be occupied ?
