A retired couple who wanted to make a gift to their children discovered that part of the property, purchased 36 years ago, did not belong to them.

Funny surprise for this retired couple from Saint-Malo. The couple had planned to share their house with their children, reports Le Pays Malouin

By studying the cadastral documents, their notary discovered, a few weeks ago, that part of their property purchased 36 years ago does not belong to them.

Two plots

These are precisely two plots, of 9 m2 and 5m2, detail our colleagues from Pays Malouin. One is a part of the garden laid out as a flower bed, the other a paved path which passes under the windows of their children's bedrooms.

"We were amazed"

The City of Saint-Malo actually owns these two pieces of land.  "We were amazed when we learned that", explains one of the owners, 84 years old, in Pays Malouin.&nbsp ;

"We bought this house in 1988. Nobody told us anything at the time. We thought we were at peace, we were far from imagining that", he continued, quoted by our colleagues.

Different payments to be made

The City of Saint-Malo decided to sell these two plots to them for a fixed price of 200 euros. The retired couple must also pay 900 euros for surveyor fees and 1,000 euros for a notarial deed.

These various regulations having been made, retirees will finally be able to complete the donation-sharing of their house to their children.
