The giant tick spotted in four departments

#OCCITANIE Nearly ten years after the first report, the giant tick continues to invade the region's scrubland. Several departments are affected according to Public Health France, including four in Occitanie: Aude, Hérault, Gard and Pyrénées-Orientales.

“No human cases of transmission of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever have been diagnosed in France to date. However, the risk of contamination has now been demonstrated because ticks infected with the virus are present in the south of France", writes Santé Publique France. If a tick comes into contact with your skin, remove it using a tick remover and then disinfect the contact area.

A mayor beaten up

#GARD The mayor of Collias, Jonathan Pire, who was trying to restore calm after an altercation during the votive festival, was the victim of violence (three days of ITT) on the night of Saturday to Sunday. He was taken care of by emergency services and transported to the Nîmes hospital.

He has since been released from the hospital and has filed a complaint. “There was an initial altercation with about ten people. I was outside the bar. I tried to intervene and restore calm”,testifies the first elected official of the commune. About thirty people were then on the scene. The mayor was thrown to the ground. “I took blows to the chest and knees. “I had to have an MRI,” the elected official confided.

Fire: at least 65 ha destroyed

#AUDE/HÉRAULT Significant resources were deployed this Monday, July 29, in the Argeliers and Bize-Minervois area after a fire that apparently started in Hérault before spreading l’Aude.

270 firefighters from Aude and Hérault, a Dash and three Canadairs from civil security were mobilized at the end of the afternoon. 65 hectares were then destroyed, announces the Independent. Around 6pm, the situation was improving and the last Canadair drops were scheduled for 7pm.

A 3D clip and “from here” for Rinôçérôse

#MONTPELLIER The images of “Awake”, the new single by Rinôçérôse, an electro-rock duo, were created using video game techniques by a team of students and their supervisors from the school Objectif 3D based in Montferrier-sur-Lez. The 3D universe of the clip retraces the journey of the Montpellier group through posters, guitars, skateboards, record stores and concert halls. “Starting from scratch allowed us to create a city that corresponded to the group, with lots of references”, says Vanessa Hueber, a student who participated in the project.

“We immersed ourselves in their music”, adds his colleague Jules Bayonne. The visuals of the single, released on June 28, were designed and developed with the Unreal Engine video game engine. Now available in audio and images, “Awake” is the first preview of “Psychôanalysis”, the seventh album by the duo formed by Patrice Carrié and Jean-Philippe Freu, to be released on October 11.
