Une nouveauté rendue possible grâce au prêt de l’association des Amis de Jean-Henri Fabre d’une collection unique réunie par Robert Loysel.

From May 8, Micropolis is innovating with a new space entirely dedicated to the world of butterflies. Its name: "Journey in Lepidoptera". The Lepidoptera family being, as you will have understood, made up of  moths and day butterflies.  ;nbsp;A novelty made possible thanks to the loan from the Friends of Jean-Henri Fabre association of a unique collection brought together by Robert Loysel.

Born in Normandy in 1920, Robert Loysel spent a large part of his life in North Africa, where he developed a passion for the study of butterflies. After his professional career, he devoted his retirement to entomology. His collection, initially composed of butterflies from North Africa and France, has expanded to include tropical specimens. His growing fame allowed him to exhibit his collection across France.

Robert Loysel, who died in 1999, left his collection intact, thanks to the commitment of his wife Renée. At the suggestion of her friend Jean-Louis Martin, she entrusted this precious collection to the Association of Friends of Jean-Henri Fabre in Saint-Léons, which aims to promote Fabre's work and raise awareness of the nature. Today, Micropolis and this association are joining forces to exhibit this remarkable collection of butterflies in a new dedicated space, at the City of Insects.

With "Voyage en Lepidoptere", the Micropolis team offers park visitors a complete immersion in the enchanting world of butterflies. A unique opportunity to learn more about these delicate insects, their defense and reproduction strategies, the threats that weigh on them and the means to protect them.
