A price increase applied at the start of the school year on the Tango transport network in the Agglo de Nîmes

On September 1, 2024, a fare increase will be applied to the Tango network. Midi Libre – MIKAËL ANISSET

On September 1, 2024, new features will come into effect in the public transport network of the Agglo Tango.

As of September 1, new fare changes will affect the public transport network of the Agglo Nîmes Métropole Tango. Price increases for single tickets and subscriptions will cause some grimaces on the faces of travelers accustomed to this gentle mode of transport.

The price of a single ticket will increase in September 2024 from €1.30 to €1.40, , which has not happened for eight years, while we are seeing inflation soar by 25% in this period, , as indicated at the end of March by the management of Nîmes Métropole. The general public subscription is also affected by this increase since it will increase from €33.30 to €38. per month (employer may cover 50 to 75%).

At the community council at the end of March, the left-wing opposition had coughed somewhat at the announcement of these prices. A cough that risks reaching the ranks of parents of pupils before this September return to school when it will be a question of taking out a subscription… Which has been possible since the end of July online. For two journeys per day during the school term over ten months, the price goes from 45 euros to 70 euros per year and for unlimited over twelve months from 70 to 90 euros for one year. The Agglo recalls that these school rates had recorded a sharp drop of 131 euros since 2019.

Free services offered

On the other hand, no price increase is planned for students and solidarity rates are recording a drop (80 euros per year, minus 10 euros). Seniors aged over 70 will benefit from free services, as will people with an 80% disability, holders of a disability card or disability mobility card. The accompanying person holding a mobility inclusion card on presentation of the CMI card will also have free travel.

In addition, before this return to school, which will allow the new delegate Keolis to present its objectives and projects, the Tango network is offering tourists three new two-day (6.50 euros), 4-day (11.50 euros) and 7-day (17.50 euros) Passes this summer. This completes the Citypass offer from the Nîmes Tourist Office.
