A “punch” action in Montpellier to denounce the abysmal margins of mass distribution

This Thursday, February 15, five environmental activists went to the Carrefour Market supermarket in the Millénaire district of Montpellier to stick stickers denouncing the margins of mass retail brands before being escorted outside by security guards.  

This Thursday noon, environmental activists affiliated with the Green party gathered in front of the supermarket “Carrefour” from the Millénaire district to perform a “punch” action. "We want to do educational work with consumers. Prices are rising while farmers are paid less and less. Where is this abysmal margin going , wonders Marie Massart, elected ecologist at Montpellier town hall. To do this, the activists did not come empty-handed. Dozens of stickers, indicating the real cost price to the farmer, were distributed among them. "We're going to try to squeeze in as many as possible before getting kicked out", explains the elected official.

Milk, fruits, meats…

"Look at this milk pack for example. It is 1.42 euros per liter while only 25 cents goes directly to producers", she protests. "It’s the same for meat, vegetables… There is inflation of course but neither farmers benefit from this increase in prices".
If the consumers encountered during the action seemed to agree with the comments, the activists were quickly taken outside the store by the security guards and the store manager. "We are ready to discuss and hear all the demands but these stickers are false and do not reflect our policy", they believe.
Other actions of this type are planned throughout the territory.
