A complaint against a slaughterhouse for mistreatment

#HAUTE-GARONNE The L214 association has filed a complaint against the Boulogne-sur-Gesse slaughterhouse, which it is demanding be closed immediately, our colleagues at La Dépêche du Midi reveal. The cause: mistreatment of pigs and cattle reported by the animal protection association, with video to support it.

In this hidden camera, we see pigs running away from the slaughter line, kicked back by workers. And according to L214, these are not the only malfunctions recorded. Owner of the slaughterhouse, the second largest in the department, the community of communes reacted succinctly, explaining that its services “are currently analyzing the video in question.”

Does the reconversion of the shooting range have lead in its wing ?

#MAUGUIO-CARNON Arnaud Deliencourt, president of the sport shooting club, claims that the mound behind the targets contains tons of lead, risking pollution and lead poisoning for those who frequent it. On Thursday, August 29, he contacted the Regional Health Agency (ARS), the prefecture and the town hall to announce that the club was invoking a right of withdrawal.

The premises are closed pending analysis. A timing that is not insignificant. The club has been in open conflict with the town hall since the latter, owner of the premises, announced to them that they had to leave the premises on September 1st, to reserve the site for training by the police.

In a press release, the town hall maintains that “this equipment, which meets all the standards of the French Shooting Federation, will be made fully available to security personnel, after the necessary work has been completed.”

The grape harvest no longer motivates the workers

#HÉRAULTThe wine sector is struggling to find workers for this new harvest season extending throughout the month of September. According to France Travail, 120 job offers for “Agricultural aid for fruit or wine production” were posted in Hérault until the end of June. 79% of them concerned the search for grape harvesters.

However, among the 310 job seekers in this sector, only 9% were interested in this position. Subcontracting is therefore an option chosen by many winegrowers.

#LOZÈRE The eighth edition of the Qualiviande agricultural competition is being held in Aumont-Aubrac on Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September. Meet at the Grande Halle. The first day is reserved for competitions. Cattle will be in the spotlight with the Charolais and Limousin breeds.

On the sheep side, the whites of the Massif Central will participate in a competition. A children's parade is planned for Sunday at 11 a.m., followed by the award ceremony.

Former MP Rome not yet back in class

#HÉRAULTFormer MP for the 4th constituency of Hérault, Sébastien Rome, will not be returning to school on Monday, September 2. Defeated in the last legislative elections, the former parliamentarian should be reinstated in the National Education where he worked as a school principal. But the civil servant Rome is still waiting for an assignment, which could not arrive for a few weeks.

Which leaves him plenty of time to continue to keep the June electoral mobilization alive. Sébastien Rome is preparing a day with the activists and sympathizers of the New Popular Front. The meeting is scheduled for September 21 in Lodève.
