Many partners of student life will be mobilized on Thursday, September 12, 2024 for the student day organized by the City.

A thousand students are starting their new school year in Mende. A considerable number. Among them, some are from Lozère, of course, and others come from outside. They will therefore, in addition to finding their feet in their new establishment, discover the city.

It is to welcome them well that the City of Mende has launched the student day. The third edition will take place on Thursday, September 12, 2024, organized by the City, in collaboration with higher education establishments, and with the support in particular of the CVEC and the Crous.

"The student dynamic begins with the welcome", explains Patricia Rousson, elected representative of Mende. “We want students to have a pleasant memory of their first contact with the city“, adds Myriam Cruege, coordinating tutor of the connected campus.

Practical and fun

The day will thus have a practical aspect, with the presence of all the important contacts for student life, such as the common social security fund, family planning, Lozère Habitation, the Crous, the local mission, road safety, the mobility agency, Addictions France, the Scouts, etc. The firefighters and Grimp will also be there. Also involved are the trade office, the community life office, the MGC handball, Mend Arts, Register, the cinema, the Mendois student association, etc.

The entire event will take place around the fairground, starting at 3 p.m. It is called “Take a Tour of Mende”, and the organizers promise gifts and surprises throughout the day. Students will be able to participate in different workshops to discover the city through culture, heritage, sport or other…

Surprises and evening

Depending on your tastes and inspiration, you can register for workshops on the HelloAsso platform until September 10. Students who are not registered can still decide to participate at the last minute, but some workshops have a limited capacity.

At 5:30 p.m., it will be time to gather for an information hall with fun workshops offered by all partners. Then it will be time for gastronomy, with local products, and the DJ evening at the Émile-Joly square.

A new impetus for the Mende Students Association

Thomas Villeneuve is preparing to hand over the presidency of the Mende Students Association, after three years in this position. While they are traditionally held in the second week of September, the elections will this time be postponed slightly, in order to give students time to settle into their establishments and student offices. The representatives of the BDEs will then be asked to form a new office for the student association. The aim is to relaunch the association so that it unites Mende students.
