Accident in Gard due to depression Monica: a man missing, his car swept away by water

The vehicle attempted to cross a submersible bridge in the village of Gagnières this Saturday March 9, 2024. A man is missing.

Around 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, March 9, a car was swept away by water while trying to cross the Vigière submersible bridge, located at   Gagnières, in the north of Gard. 

According to initial information, the bridge in question was already below water level at the time of the accident. The car, a 4×4 type vehicle, would have ignored the closure of the bridge and the ban on crossing.

At least two people were on board. After falling into the river, one of them managed to find shelter at the top of a tree on the other side of the river. ;

A large number of firefighters and police officers are on site to help him and try to find the vehicle and its occupant, who are missing. The search is likely to last several hours due to the weather conditions on site, with the rain still being heavy and the water level continuing to rise.
