Agde: the company Sud Est Traiteur was chosen by the City to provide collective catering for five years

Two files were presented to municipal elected officials in committee: that of Sud Est Traiteur and that of SHCB, the current delegatee, which had created controversy in 2022 by imposing on children the choice of starter or dessert at the cafeteria. Finally, Sud Est Traiteur was chosen.

The municipal council voted on Tuesday May 21 on the choice of the new delegate for collective catering in the municipality's canteens, homes for the elderly and home meal deliveries. After examining the files, two candidates were still in the running: Sud Est Traiteur and the company SHCB, the current service provider, whose present contract ends in a few weeks.

The 2022 controversy with the SHCB company

On this subject, we remember the controversy which opposed the company and the municipality in November 2022. Upset by price inflation, SHCB decided to require schoolchildren to choose between starter and dessert to lower the cost of the meal. Public outcry among parents and a standoff between the protagonists, which ultimately led to an increase in the price of the ticket, initially cushioned by the City.

For the public service delegation which will cover the period 2024-2029, the elected officials finally chose Sud Est Traiteur, which proposed "a better offer" , explains Martine Vibarel-Carreau, deputy delegate for childhood, family and parenthood. "It’was a very complex file and I congratulate the services concerned for their work", even commented the elected official opposition Patrick Dumont, member of the commission.
